Life often confronts us with challenges and stresses that can feel overwhelming. It may be the cloud of anxiety, the restraints of a bad habit, a constant cycle of negative thoughts or a loss of confidence. These things hold so many people back in their daily lives. To address these issues a number of therapies have been developed to improve our mental well-being in this busy fast paced modern-day world.

Hypnotherapy in itself can be a highly effective treatment approach for many symptoms and concerns, however is at times not an answer purely in itself.

Solution Focused Therapy is an evidence-based approach to psychotherapy, which has been studied since the early 1980s.

At Amanda Golden Hypnotherapy, therapy combines the very best elements of Solution Focused Therapy techniques with the most recent, research in neuroscience and the most effective elements of Brain Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Psychology and Neuro-linguistic Programming.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process and it is important to understand that change happens because you want it to and because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.  I utilise a three pronged approach:

What is Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy?
Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFHT) is a therapeutic approach that combines elements of solution-focused psychotherapy (talking therapy) and hypnosis to help people address and overcome their issues. It focuses on the present and the future, aiming to promote positive change by guiding the client to identify and find positive solutions to issues and focus on achieving these future goals by taking one small step/action at a time, rather than dwelling on problems.​

This approach is designed to reduce anxiety and calm the mind. Therapy sessions focus on identifying solutions – positive steps towards your preferred future, rather than analysing problems of the past. We cannot change what has already happened, but we can change our way of thinking about it, as well as the way we think about the present and the future.

 

If you have experienced unpleasant events, we acknowledge they happened and help you get from where you are to where you want to be. In this way, we will :

– recognise where you are currently
– identify where you want to be
– help you to make the necessary changes to get there.

Using up to date research from neuroscience, I will explain how our mind creates unwanted symptoms and behaviours and can get in the way of our desire to move forward and meet our potential. We will explore the human fear response, as well as the power of positive visualisation and self-talk and you will learn how to train your mind to work for, rather than against you.

What does it involve?
During a solution-focused hypnotherapy session, you’ll be guided into thinking in a solution-focused way. How would your future be if you did not have the pain or the problem you have sought treatment for?  This is broken into small achievable steps.  The addition of hypnosis within each session will help to consolidate the changes faster than just taking therapy alone.
With hypnosis most of us have the ability to go into a light trance during the therapy session. Some go much deeper. Either way it’s relaxing, enjoyable and effective! 
Hypnotherapy is a natural and gentle way to treat all kinds of emotional, nervous or psychological problems.

What is Trance Hypnosis ?
Trance is a normal and natural thing we all go into on a daily basis anyway, like when driving on a familiar road or even just daydreaming. When in this relaxed state we are totally aware of our surroundings at all times.
Clients often describe how amazing they feel for the next few days. Hypnosis uses trance to encourage a natural brain processing state in which we can gain clarity and go away feeling confident, calm and ready to make positive change.
In this state of trance your relaxed subconscious mind becomes more receptive to beneficial suggestions, accepting directions to promote positive change in behavioural patterns or habits.

Hypnotherapy enhances the effects of the solution focused, brain based elements of the session. It harnesses the positive elements of the natural occurring hypnotic state, using them to beneficial, therapeutic effect. In this relaxed state, your mind is more responsive to suggestion. In a therapeutic setting, the suggestions are designed to be beneficial, helping you change unhelpful thought patterns. Suggestions are often related to confidence, self-esteem and feelings of control and calmness. Your mind will reject anything not in your interests and you will remain completely in control.

Many people are surprised at how ‘normal’ hypnotherapy feels, describing a wonderful sense of calmness and relaxation.
